Everyone has there favorites and perceived levels of quality and features from each. How do I actually pick one over the internet with out actually being able to handle them? I am looking at some AB800’s with soft boxes so I have learned a heavy duty stand is in order. The 13’ HD air cushioned stands from Alien are $100. I’ve read that the Impact line is the same stand (T/F) for $70? Is there a better option in this price range? Thanks for your responses.

If they are going to stay in one place, perhaps in a studio, spend the money to get heavier ones with casters so you can roll them around - particularly if you are getting a boom. I can't begin to tell you how that is worth the money. If they have to be portable, you can pick about anything. I use Calumet brand from http://www.calumetphoto.com and have for years. I like them a lot. My roll-around stands are Bogen. Very sturdy and durable.

Any features you would recommend? Leveling legs, turn vs. clamp collars, size stud, etc?
