How do you do HDR?

I've seen a lot of HDR photos on here and they are all so beautiful! How exactly do you do HDR?

use your cameras AEB function to take 3 different exposures of the same scene. Then you can either "merge to HDR" using photoshop, or use a program like photomatix

Take 3 or more pictures while adjusting the shutter speed but keeping the aperature the same to ensure the same sharpness threw the pictures to get at least 3 different exposures. Then merge all the photos into an HDR image, then lastly, you'll do tone mapping to make it visible on our 8bit monitors. Photomatix is the easiest way i believe.
