do you spot things on your passing day and quickly grab your camera?
do you remember things you once saw and try and recreate?
do you get asked to take certain pics?
do you have a list of things you want pictures of?
or do you just wake up one morning and think 'Today, i will take some pictures of a plant/an octopus/ a significant other etc. etc....'

how do you find the subject of your next image :?: :)

I do all of those. Mostly I pass by things that I stop to take pictures of. I have a list of things that I want to take pictures of some day. Most of them are things that I have passed by but havnt had the chance to go photograph.

Although I have never thought about taking pictures of an octopus.

I have used all those methods. Mostly I see something, wish I had my camera, and then try and go back by at about the same time another day.

i do a lot of portraits (and will be doing them exclusivly soon) so it has to be organzied .... i do some work for pay but the real magic happens when i pick my own subjects (pet project) :D (in the process of making my portfolio stronger)

i usually get an idea of a new project once a week or so ... i've got about 3 projects rotating around me now and a list on my e-memo pad .... one is almost completed, the second one im currently working on ... im gonna start a new one while still working on the last one ... just got one of the ideas last night ... gonna do a series so i need about 20 subjects in different locations ... cant tell u what it is (i like to keep it top secret ::shhhh:: ) ... but its going to be quite interesting, something i've never done before :D

a lot of times the hubby and i bounce ideas off each other ... he's about to do a series right now (cant tell ya what it is) ... but its going to be quite interesting ... as u can imagine ... we talk about photography almost 24 hrs a day  ... i remember being half asleep this morning, the hubby said, "what u thinking about?" ... i vaguely remember saying, " the portrait series." ... he says, "again." ... u can imagine what our kids are gonna be like

i've spent the last week studying professional photographers, looking at their work ... getting more inspired ... there's a lot of good stuff out there and a lot of junk

I often see something and think "that would be a good photo", then have to go back with my camera. (cars been broken into too many times to leave my camera in it) I've got a list going just need to find some time!

i try to see the inherent beauty in all things through the lens...driving around, walking, sleeping, everything...

Dew: our son will walk in on us and just watch us: hubby will be framing something while I'm at the drafting table reviewing slides or whatever, and we're both yammering away....then he will announce that we are: a) weird b) boring or c) a combo of the two. So - be ready!

Captain Spanky: Mostly I see things while driving around, or out someplace without my camera, and I go back when I can shoot. There have been some "off the cuff" things with varied degrees of success. I like to keep it spontaneous when I can, but I admit the ol' brain is always churning! :D

Dew doesn't wanna tell us about her new project because its PORN!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL

 ... im just secretive about my projects .. my hubby knows about them :p ... you will see it when im finished, its gonna take a few months before its complete

I surf the net for other photographers and their work and gain ideas and concepts from them... Having no formal background in photography, I kind of have to do this to keep up with you all.

After browsing through their online portfolio, I usually pick my likes and dislikes and integrate them into my work. I find I learn more from looking at other people's work than from my own. You get to look at things at their angle :).

I'm not sure if that answers your question :p

All of the above but mainly heading for somewhere with photographic intent.

Well with my geeky savy side, I plot points into a GPS device so I know where I want to shoot for later. Comes in handy along the dark stretchs of highway up here where you cant see anything but the oncoming headlights. Or on the weekends I just get up and go drive around till something catches my eye.
