How to get round the photographer

    I'll just have to sit here in the rain until he notices the feeder needs topping up.

    The goldfinches do not usually come down to the bird table, much preferring the hanging feeder. How can you refuse them - it is like having an aviary without netting.

    This is what I was taking this afternoon when I spotted my first chiffchaff in the tree behind.

    I like your narrative. I also noticed the dots on the bird, then realized it is the rain drops.

    That's a cute little bird! What kind is it? We don't have any of those where I live.
