Wow, great series of shots. I'm here trying to shot hummingbirds and your capturing BIG BLACK BEARS, geez. These are all very crisp photos. Glad you made it out with no scratches and missing body parts.

I have to say standing in front a big black bear is a real thrill, but as I stand there I am more in awe of her as she is checking me out also. In this circumstance it wasn't too risky, but in others I would not have gotten this close. Thx M@ko

great shots john, she is HUGE. I've seen a few bears in the wild, i walked within 100 feet of one once but before I could even get my lens cap off she was at the bottom of a canyon, long gone. They're more frightened of us than we are of them. I'm sure bears in civilization are different of course, we've had a few wander into phoenix from the mountains looking for water during the droughts, but they are scrawny, nothing like this sow, thanks for sharing...
