Do you need a ruling by a committee comprised of people you've never met to make a purchase? Aren't you capable of buying something and being happy with your purchase without everyone you know patting you on the back saying "wow man, nice choice!"?

Nikon shooters have to post somewhere. Most of the good Nikon boards require you to pay a membership fee to post. The good Canon boards don't require this, so most Canon shooters hangout with their own kind.

Here, if you want to feel good about your purchase, go over here and ask everyone if you made the right choice.

As for me, I'm a Canon shooter and I don't care what other people shoot. I know that Canon is the best choice for me, and Nikon doesn't make a product that can compete for my dollar right now.

Here is some Canon porn. Maybe this will make you feel better.

Oh ha ha. It just bums me out, and I don't really know why. I'm happy with my canon, sure. I guess I'm just bored.

What difference would the brand make anyway? Isn't the important thing that you have a DSLR you can take pictures with? Work on your shooting skills if you're bored.

You could have nothing but this camera.....

Where were you for the fight club at 1(2)[3] or whatever time it would have been for you.:D

You did make the wrong choice!! LOL

J/J...but seriously, why does it matter what other people use or like? Both cameras take amazing pictures! The difference is in the person behind the camera, the artistic mind creating the image.

WOW...lol...you make it sound like Canon and Nikon shooters are a different species.

lol. here i get the opposite! "if you want to take great photos you need a canon!" "canon is for the real pros!" i just shoo them off and go on with my business. so what if i have just a d60? so what if none of my lenses is really great? so what if the 50mm doesnt autofocus? it works for me and that is what matters.

If anyone so much as hints at posting images of the Canon 300mm f2.8 as some form of camera porn recovery I will personall hunt them down - beat them over the head with said lens then take it away!
(cause its fantastic and built like a tank so I am sure it would come off a lot better - just got to remember to use a UV filter to protect the front element)

I bought Canon, but I bet I would have been just as happy if I went Nikon. *shrugs*

How dare their be a scratch on the foot.

I think every brand has their own advantage! I used both Nikon and Canon myself. Although I finally stay with Nikon. But time to time I still wish I keep the Canon. To me, Canon and Nikon both makes good camera. Asking Canon or Nikon which one is better, is the same as asking "chicken" and "egg", you will never have an answer !! So if you purchase a Canon, Canon is the best.

Thank you Overread. My brain is now flooded with seretonin and dopamine, not to mention a whole host of other happy chemicals. That is too say, it took a good few minutes for me to stop laughing. Ah, geeky camera-talk.

Anyway, I agree with the above. I shoot with a Canon 450D? Why? Because it was the best choice for me when I bought it. I feel that Canon also has a great arsenal of high-quality lenses, as well as great consumer-level stuff, and so I felt it would help me ease into the upper-level gear much more easily down the road. But that's just my highly-biased and subjective opinion. What matters is the person behind the camera; complaining about your gear (unless you're trying to shoot with a 1MP cell-phone camera...then complaining about the image quality might be fair), or saying your gear is somehow better (even if it technically has more features/better low-light abilities/sharper images/higher guide numbers/makes coffee for you in the morning) is just cover-up for "I'm not comfortable enough with how I shoot and what I know about shooting to form an objective opinion about all this."

It's all about the person behind the viewfinder. Hand Ansel Adams a 3MP P&S, and he'd pull-off Pulitzer-prize-winning pictures.
