What instant messaging program does everyone prefer??? Back in the day I used ICQ and Yahoo...but when I got my new laptop last fall I quit using IM altogether b/c I was told it's the best way to get viruses. I've been thinking of trying it out again but am not sure which program seems to be the preference now? I did try MSN once but I hated it....so what do you use and what do you suggest???

Yahoo and MSN are the only two I tend to use. Never cared for AIM and haven't used ICQ in a loooooooooooooong time. The newer versions of MSN are pretty good, but I think I still prefer Yahoo overall.

As for getting a virus, unless you accept a file from someone, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Well it depends on what you want with a messanger. Most of the newer versions of programs such as MSN, Yahoo and AIM all have these fancy little gadgets on them that can freeze the computer. I hear a lot of people have trouble with AIM, but it works fine for me. MSN is good for games and chatting. Yahoo is where you want to be for voice messaging and web cameras. *Shrugs* It's a personal choice, but those are the three most popular ones i think.

AIM, MSN and ICQ through trillian. Hardly talking to anyone through ICQ these days though.

I use Yahoo only, it seems. I haven't even loaded up MSN on the computer since I reinstalled Windows. I like the smilies better. :D

Wide variety here...guess it depends mostly on who you know, what they use, and the smilies  I may give AIM a go :)
