Im using a nikon d200. How much image quality does the compression rate "basic" generate compared to the higher ones? I really save a lot of memory using basic and i cant really see any difference from the other settings.

    Best regards

Is this a real question, or are you just promoting your website?

Nikon's jpeg compression is very good, and allows almost identical dynamic range in both jpeg and RAW.

Where the advantages to shooting in RAW mode comes into play is with Post Processing options. Your ability to adjust exposure, etc. is hampered by shooting in jpeg.

So its a trade off. Either more pics, or more options for PP.

In my opinion, its a much better choice to get more memory cards and shoot RAW than it is to sacrifice PP options for more pictures on a single card.
