At the moment I am considering the fly (that is the big bug with the red eye) mostly as its very popular on my flickr (at least it gets lots of views....). However I have no idea for the second shot to pick Maybe a moth or butterfly or should it be the robin - which though rather overly central is rathern nicly displayed (least I think so)

what's the category for the competition? Just a little more info might help us help you better ... they are all great images; but, one might fit the criterion better ...

Pretty much the only category is that the image is of wildlife - be it bugs, birds, beasties or fishies. Landscape image are also allowed as well (though I don't have a single one of them up to any standard).

I personally like the moth(?) in the last picture ... and the centrally placed robin ... but I am merely one man, and this is merely one man's opinion.

I think #3 is definitely a good one to submit ;)

MY two favorites are 1) the moth or butterfly in front of the black background and 2) the small bird perched atop the rusty pitchfork. IMHO, photos one and two are out, due to their incomplete use of the compositional space, and the third shot, the insect macro, has some asymmetry that kind of cuts down its impact. The small bird perched among the limbs has rather harsh background bokeh, and the last shot, the insect ,macro is not as interesting as the one insect above in shot 3. Those are my thoughts on the potential contest entries.

gah you guys arn't helping - make the same suggestions please ;)

Hehe no seriously thanks - heh interesting view on the bird in the branches Derral, most people say the branch is sharper than the bird (seriously it came out like that). And I am partial to the lowkey butterfly shot.

Number 3, 5 and 7 all great IMO.....

3 and 5 in the end. I would have gone for 3 and 5 (the butterfly and the robin) but sadly upon opening the shot again of the butterfly I had terrible banding problems with noise around the underside which was a very visable detraction from the overall shot. Sadly heavy editing is not allowed and I couldn't get a nice clean effect like I wanted with simpler methods. I guess its something to return to and play with.

The fly for sure. I looked at it full sized so yeah. The swans haed would be nice if you tweaked the Levels some. Though the bird on the pitchfork would work well.

My vote is 1,3 and 5.

All are great. Hard to pick...

#3 and 5 IMO. Good luck!
