Hello,

What about this image using dri?

I added a fill layer to make the ground color to match the sky.

Were that a painting, I'd have the old, darkened protective varnish removed to see the artist's actual original palette.
 
This might be a better way for getting an increased Dymanic Range into your pics.

Or simily using the shadow/highlight tool will work well in lots of cases.

There's also a program called Photomatix that will do it for you (it's not free tho, but there is a free trial version with watermarks).

I think the method in the url is similar to what I did. The only difference is use l[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Sans-Serif]luminosity mask compare to me use color range highlight.

I don't think [/FONT]Photomatix can make difference compare to my manual method.

Just as usual, if sky is right, the foreground is near black. If foreground is ok, the sky is white.
 
IMHO it is way too dark and the colours are very strange.

would help if you posted the original image too
