<Inserting Text>

I am running gimp. When i insert text into my pictures , it looks great on computer, but looks horrible when printed at a photo shop. Any suggestions?

Make sure your image is scaled down to the exact size you want to print it before you take the file to the lab. Chances are the lab's machines aren't doing a good job of scaling your image, and it's showing up mostly in the text. That's my best guess anyway.
