I see what your saying, but, wether they lack the R&D or not isnt something we can prove, although it seems a shame they would not think their users could benefit from a FF sensor.

Perhaps you forgot that the first 35mm sized sensor in a DSLR was from Kodak, not Canon, and it was built in a Nikon body. There isn't anything to prove. We just need to convince Nikon that we wide angle users need the 35mm sized sensor.
