I'm looking at replacitng a zoom lens that has fallen out of my bad a time or two and now sticks in several spotwes and i've got a couple i'm looking at in the $200 range, but i can't tell the real differnece been them.

this one is a 4-5.6 but has a larger filter size and more internal elements

this one is a 3.2-4.5 but has fewer internal elements and a smaller filter size.

The thing that really gets me is that they're the same price despite different min aperture. Does anyone know if the first one has higher quality or something like that?

I'm also considering these two for cheaper options because i'm considering a serious upgrade in 2-4 years (i.e. switching to canon or nikon pro body (a la D2x or Mark II) unless pentax has picked up the pace and some f2.8 zooms) What do you think about these lenses also.

The only differ I see between first two lenses is that 4-5.6 come with a lens hood.

I think either of the top two would be pretty nice. It depends on if you need that extra stop. The first one I would guess is the sharper of the two (the elements and coating). But you wouldn't lose that much sharpness in the other. I looked around for some reviews of the lenses, didn't really find anything. But overall, people where happy with their pentax zooms.
