I'm looking at buying a domain name and wondering... Do you think this is too long? www.innocentexpressionsphotography.com
Just using innocent expressions is taken, all though their purchase of it expires next month and they haven't done anything with the site for a couple years so perhaps they won't renew. Should I wait and see? Do you have any other suggestions for shortening the name? I'm all ears!

Glad to be of help :) I've always wanted to start my own website to display my photography or travels or whatever, and the domain name is always what holds me up...Never had a knack for coming up with catchy stuff.

I shortened mine to make it easier on people. Instead of marywalravenphotography.com I just did mwphoto.info. It seems to work pretty well. Especially because of the chance of spelling errors. Then they don't get the right sight.

Best to keep it as short and easy as possible. I know a few people who even go as far as to register several different versions...long and short, as well as common misspellings...all with redirects to their site. So that way, people won't have trouble finding their site.

    www.innocent-expressions.com?

what happens when people don't know there is a hyphen in there?

I would stick with as unique and simple as you can without hyphems or cutesy spellings.

    It's an interesting subject.

Some years ago I owned secoast.com which I used for email forwarding. secoast because I lived on the South East COAST. I let this lapse and it was soon taken over by a finance company. I recently checked and discovered it is now available again. Why? I know that when I gave people the address they always added an a after the e turning secoast into seacoast. The coast bit made their brain type sea instead of se. Just an example of how some thought is required when thinking these things up.
