It's butterfly season!

My Zilker Botanical Garden trips are numbered, but boy was the butterfly garden spunky yesterday. A bit breezy, but worth the challenge to capture these wonderfully colored butterflies.

All captured with a Canon EOS 30D, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro lens, and this DIY Ring-Flash.

#1 Queen (Danaus gilippus)

#2 Pipevine Swallowtail Butterfly (Battus philenor)

#3 Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae)

#4 Great Golden Digger Wasp (Sphex cf. flavovestita)

#5 Hedgehog Fly (Scotiptera sp, undescribed, Tachinidae)

#6 Hedgehog Fly (Scotiptera sp, undescribed, Tachinidae)

as always very impressed with your shooting!
And very jealous of the depth of field and brightness of your shots - the bee and fly have fantastic depths and details to them ( as well as colours)!
