janapese prices?

G'day.

i'm heading over to Japan in a couple of months and was thinking about buying a new lens over there. is it much cheaper at all....ii have a canon 400d and would be looking to buy a zoom USM not sure wich one yet but about 300mm i think....any one got any experience buying there stuff in japan.

Not in Japan but I was just in China about 2 months ago and Hong Kong. Everything was about the same price it was over here. I was hoping to get a good deal but I found none.

Japan is just all around expensive unless you're going there to buy cellphones or something...even then...Hong Kong is a much better shopping destination for cheap stuff.

Careful though...there's lots of fake stuff as well in Asia...

You're probably better off buying it where you're from, cause you'll get the local warranty from Canon.

I got some stuff at Akihabara when i was there a month ago. I dont know about the stores that are in the marketplace type area, but I went to this place called YodobashiCamera, and its a huge electronics store with good discounts
