    Hello everyone,

I've not posted in the forum before, but wanted to drop in and say hi. My wife and I are planning a trip to California in the Summer, and we plan to buy an image from Jeff Mitchum. This is not an advertisement for Jeff by any means, but I wanted to share his work and see what others on the forum thought. I'm just a big fan of Landscape photography in general, and am looking forward to getting something on our wall! After much research, we've settled on Jeff. He is a great guy, and has been very helpful to us.

Anyway, enjoy. I'd love to hear if anyone on the forum has any favorites from the site. In the end, I'm sure it will come down to a personal decision when we visit the gallery, but it would be fun to hear what others think. Enjoy!

    Take care!

(Forum moderators, if you feel this post needs to be moved, please do so. I'm not looking to promote anything. I had a tough time deciding which forum to post in, but since this is all Landscape/Nature related, I figured I would post here. Still, if you think it belongs in onr of the "commercial' forums, please feel free to move the thread, and I'll continue the discussion there. Don't want to make any waves!)

i think his work is pretty good. I like the colors and composition. They were not all "AWE" shots though

    Appreciate the responses.

Some of the 'awe' to me is in the technical side. You kinda have to take the time to learn the stories behind some of the images to fully appreciate them.

For example, 'Moonstruck' (An image from high atop a cliff of the Big Sur Coast, a waterfall, and a pool) was actually taken at night. It's a 3 hour exposure at F11. That's part of what impresses me.... The artistry, expertise, and work that goes into some of the images.

There are a lot of great photographers out there, past and present. A gentleman in another forum turned me on to the work of the late Galen Rowell. What amazing work that is!

The special thing about Jeff and guys like him is that he works so hard for the images. There are those out there who take a decent shot and then bring out the 'awe' by digital manipulation. I'm not saying that photoshop does not have its place in creating amazing images, but to me it's nice to see people doing it the old fashioned way.
