I have a Nikon d40 and I was wondering when I look in the viewfinder on the bottom right I will see number of shot I have left, but sometimes when I press the shutter half way it changes and says something like "r04". What does this mean?

What that is is the number of buffer shots you have. When you take pictures in a row it can't instantly write the photos to the card so there is a buffer where you can take so many pictures in a row before having to wait for them to right. On my D50 it says "r12" meaning I have 12 buffer places you have 4. If you watch it when you take a picture it should got to 3 then a second later go back to 4 this is because it has finished writing the picture to the memory and can now hold one more shot.

PS also check out your manual for things like that!!! :D

Thanks so much. Ya I was going to say something about the manual, but sometimes I get tired of flipping through that thing. Thanks again.
