Seems like this might be his first camera, isn't a D300 kinda far up the line to be just learning on?
He could have a VERY nice camera in a D90, and get exceptional quality glass for a lot less than he is spending for this one. I know he already has it (don't know how long, or if it is returnable), but to me, seems like that is a LOT of camera for a beginner to be learning on.
Hey now, I just got started with a D300 back in April. I don't know what the OP's photography intentions are, but for me I didn't want to outgrow my camera in a year and have to upgrade quickly so I bought up hoping to grow into my camera.
However I did budget for a lens at the time I purchased my D300, I would be sick to have such a nice camera and not be able to use it because I didn't buy a lens too.
