A friend of mine has been after me to take photos of her daughter for a while now and I finally relented. Here are the results...

    C&C per req:
    1. Great composition and expression, but the lighting is a bit of a let down. You have strong highlights on her right should/cheek area, and deep shadow on her left side. The use of a reflector to brighten the shadow areas and a diffuser to tone down the brightest areas would have really made this image.
    2. Very nice.
    3. Nice as well, but watch the hair and resultant shadow around her left eye.
    4. Nice expression, but it seems a tad soft; almost like the point of focus was her chest, rather than her face. I'm not a fan of these tight crops, but I understand many are.
    5. Technically it's fine other than the unusual flower reflections in the eyes, but IMHO, it's a rather over-done pose
    6. Very nice.
In all but #s 1 and 5, the eye treatment/catchlights are excellent!

Just my $00.02 worth - your milage may vary.

The lighting in the first one is interesting.

My favorite from a newbie standpoint is #3. It seems to have good lighting to the best of my knowledge, and she looks very natural and comfortable. Plus her hair looks very good to me the way it is in #3. I like what you did to her skin, too. The skin smoothing seems stronger in the fourth photo than the others, but I think that's just because its a close up. And its also not a bad thing, IMO.

The parents of this child will be happy, IMO.
