Great shot!! Just beautiful!

I've got a 40D and just hope I can capture something even remotely similar to your quality.

Questions: What did you use for a background and what kind of light was used?

The background is a flat black drop cloth set back about 4 feet. The rose was in a vase sitting on a stool with another black cloth draped over it to make sure to color casting was going to happen.
