- Can others edit my Photos
- Photos OK to edit
I am stuck with a decision I wouldn't want to regret later.
I previously bought a canon 10-22 for shooting exterior and interior of buildings. This lens really astounded me. I wanted to take landscape photos but I don't travel a lot anymore as I am back in school for 3 years. So this lens I think won't be utilized to its full potential.
I work part time at night clubs and I use only my 10-22. Its awesome because I can fit a large group of people into 1 shot without having to move back too far. However the distortion on this lens is too noticeable from 10-16 and I'm getting tired of editing each picture in Lightroom. I shoot hundreds of photos a night and I rather not spend too much time post processing photos. On the narrow end of things, I can't get close enough in some situations that I end up having to crop each photo anyway (close up shots) Basically I just don't want to spend too much time editing. composition matters though and i find myself cropping almost every photo from each night I rather get it right on the spot of the capture.
My resolution to this, now, is to purchase a 16-35mm f2.8LII that can definitely be utilized in low lighting condition and give me that nice background bokeh in single or couple shots. Most of my shots come around the range of 13-17mm anyway.
My second lens in my kit is the 24-105mm f4L. I barely use this lens on my 7D because I don't find myself shooting that narrow. I basically just shoot events, family gatherings, car shows, street photography. i haven't tried portraits or sports yet but I believe a 70-200mm f2.8L II IS USM would be good for those as I plan to buy that in the next year or two.
The problem. I have these two lenses and don't have extra cash to spare on a new lens so I plan on selling both of them to purchase the 16-35. Just cause of my shooting style. I also want the weatherproofing of the L series lenses just Incase I want to take my camera out snowboarding I can take some nice photos and videos without having to worry about damaging the units or shoot in the rain.
I know I kind of solved my own dilemma but I wanted To know what other people thought. Has anyone been through this decision before? Does anybody shoot interiors/exteriors with this lens on a cropped sensor? Ive never tried a 16-35 before but im sure its Really nice. I'd be losing the range from 10-105mm But I would have the ultimate walk around lens.
