Labrador BW - C&C Pls

Looking for some tips on this BW of my lab. Sugesstions on bringing out some more detail?

I am not an expert in B&W, but how would one get more detail in this photo?
Look at the DOF with the whiskers...

Next shot, maybe have the dog looking directly into the camera lens and keep your focus on the eyes.

Great advice. Thanks! Need to get abit closer to sharpen that up. Good thing she's addicted to the tennis ball...will stay still staring at it for hours.
