Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
ok...so my stepdad got a new laptop that he can take onto job sites with him...he already had a printer/scanner/copier all-in-one that he got last year that he can use in his truck so he can make copies of insurance paperwork on the jobsite. Anyway...he wants to be able to connect the printer to the laptop so he can print from there as well...problem is, he lost the installation cd. So...what do I do? The reason I'm posting this here and not on http://www.thesupportforum.com is because I need this info as soon as possible, cuz my step dad is a mighty impatient man! So...can anyone tell me? This is not my strong point.

Also, I'm trying to install microsoft office...a co-worker of my stepdad's brought it over...during set up it asked for the 25 digit product key on the back of the cd case...so I entered it...it seems to install just fine..then I go to open up the program for the first time, and it asks for the key again...i've tried over and over again, maknig absolute sure I'm putting it in exactly correct, and it says it's invalid?

The company that made the printer should have free drivers downloadable from their website.

As far as the key goes, has your coworker installed and registered the product already? If so, the code won't work again I don't think.

You have to register Microsoft Office now I think. If you already have it installed in one computer and registered, it's not going to work anywhere else.

Well, now I'm frustrated! I went home and got the cd my boyfriend used to put office on both of his computer, and my computer as well, but I still can't get it to work.

As far as the printer goes, my laptop recognized my printer without any kind of software used. Try plugging it in and see what happens.

I'm giving up on the software. :( I tried to be useful. I suck. Guess I'll have to wait til Erik gets home. AGAIN. I hate relying on everyone else.

The best bet is to download the software drivers for your printer/MFD thing from the manufacturer's site and then it should just work fine if XP doesn't have native drivers.

With Office, you can ring them and get it activated as a re-install :)

For the software you can search the internet for cracks or keygens. Cracks will remove cd-checks and stuff like that. Keygens just generate keys. This is of course the illegal way install software. However, it might be added you've already crossed that line.

If this is an inappropriate post please delete it and send me a warning PM.

Download Star Office, it will open office DOC's and it is free.

Um...yeah...remind me not to do that again, I just got 3 viruses on my computer.

EEK! I was going to warn you to make sure you have virus protection running. I thought of it while writing the post but got distracted by the legality thing.

All you have to do is use system restore and it will get rid of viruses.

... well it uninstalls them, and keeps them from loading. But you still have to delete them. I usually just use a free online virus scan after using system restore. Have yet to have a problem using this one-two combo. (I refuse to actually run virus software)
