Lens Hoods

I have 2 lens hoods. A rubber circular hood and a "flower pedal" hood. Both are screwmount. Which do you like to use, which do you think is better and why?

The 'petal' style hoods are best...when used on the lens they are designed to fit. They cover the most area without causing vignetting. The rubber hoods are more generic.

Also, the more solid a hood is, the better protection it will offer. Of course, rubber hoods are easier to pack.
