Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
ok so im looking to upgrade from my HP p&s to a rebel xsi. im pretty solid on getting that model of body. the only thing im shaky on is the lense.

im tied up between these two:

the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L which is an L lense but does not have IS.

or

the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS which is not an L lense but it does have IS.

i want the sharpest images i can get. now im wondering how much sharper are the photos going to be with the 70-200mm and will it be worth it to sacrifice the IS. i will probably be doing 40% tripod shooting and 60% handheld shooting.

any input is appreciated

EDIT: sorry i just realized that this is in the wrong section. if a mod could please move this to the digital Q and A section please.

Before it's moved I'd like to answer from the film forum. You will inherently get sharper images from a shorter lens because it takes a lot more to move one than a longer one. The 300 has IS because it needs it. And if your longer focal length shots are going to be primarily made form the tripod then get the 200, save your dough and have fun.

i forgot to metion that both lenses are the exact same price. thanks for the advice
