Hey, could someone make sure this is a good deal :D

Sigma 28-70 f/3.5-4.5 for $80 (manual focus for Nikon)

it's claimed brand new in box, although admittedly old.

generally for outdoor use, i think this would be a good general every day kind of a lens, but being somewhat unfamiliar with a lot of this stuff any advice would be welcome.

    thanks

I think you might this lens (or others) cheaper ... since it is MF.

    Too high.

The earlier (manual focus) Sigma lenses are not such great quality. Manual
focus Vivitar, especially the Vivitar Series 1 lenses, are much better
both in build quality and optics.

Of course, a Nikkor lens would be the best choice. ;)

Sigma is good quality. Depends on the specific lens though. Kinda hit and miss on the older stuff. Newer is very good though. Check out KEH Camera: Used Cameras, Digital Cameras, Film Cameras, Laptop Computers and More. They have a lot of good used stuff. I have bought a few older lenses off them for my Canon ft and I have always been pleased.
