Im new to this so sorry if i sound stupid!
I have just purchased a Canon EOS 350D and am looking at buying a Tamron telephoto zoom lense. The lense is AF which i assume is auto focus. Will an AF lense work on my camera or does it need to be EF? thanks. Tom

Third party lens vendors ( Sigma, Tokina, Tamron ) make lenses that are compatible with a variety of camera mounts ( Minolta, nikon, canon.. etc ). AF is short for autofocus. EF is the designation Canon has assigned to lenses compatible with their EOS line of cameras.

If you purchase a Tamron lens that is manufactured with an Canon EF mount, you are good to go.

I think pretty much any new lens that you can by from a reputable brand weill only fit canon cameras after 1987(I think thats the date) which all use ef/ ef-s lenses so it will be fine. As long as you don't buy the nikon one or something :D
