    I think it's a great abstract. Simple shape & form.

    The shadows on the background distract a little bit but not too much.

    I agree with you 100%! The shadows are distracting and I don't like them at all! How could I have avoided the shadows?

    You would have needed to use multiple lights (or take the glass outside in better light). If you think about it, you can actually see the shadows with your eye - if you see them, you will photograph them.

    Oh, and that damn beer is flat mate. What kinda person drinks flat beer????

    Would a fill in flash have eliminated the shadows or caused more problems than it fixed with reflection and the like?

    you would probably need soft, even light from the left and right and top..maybe a macro flash adapter.

    maybe try adding some strange light somewhere there :) it'll make the shot more interesting
