I have not been using a light meter, but I have seen a lot of talk about them. Would it be very beneficial to get one? How exactly do they work? Where is the best place to get one? Do I need an expensive one?

Thanks :)

The more expensive the light meter the more accurate. Mine is accurate to 1/10th of a stop.
Having a separate light meter allows you to be more selective and take greater control of your exposures. Because you have to actively select areas to measure they make you take more time over your pictures and think more about them.
There are many guides that can help but the first step is to understand what a light meter is trying to do.
You can buy them lots of places.
If you want me to go into greater detail knock on my PM box door. ;-)
