Do any of you have any suggestions as to what type of lighting elements to purchase for still life setups? I want to start taking more of these type of photographs. I have a book I just received on lighting techniques and special effects, but each demonstration looks like its using about $10,000 in lighting, not to mention a studio set-up. I just want something that can be interchanged and multipurpose. Maybe this is a dumb question, I'm not sure.

I just bought a soft box (stand, bulb included) for $225. Seems like a great place to start. That and a couple of flags and reflector boards (car window shades) would take you pretty far.

Cool, thanks Shane. I'll do some research on some softboxes. Thanks for response
