I tried getting some lightning a few weeks ago, but it was to spontanious and it was'nt much. Maybe I'll try next time.

But nice shoots BTW.

The trees probably are soft becuase the wind was blowing. And if you mean the bolts, that is probably due to the jpeg compression, I printed one of the pics, and the bolts were nice and crisp on that.
