This is actually a green heron. Nice shots, but the time of day is really a pain here, because the light is so harsh and contrasty. The first one is nice and sharp, but the 2nd and 3rd I would consider tossing out because of sharpness issues. While there are exceptions, wildlife photographs are best when razor sharp.

It's to bad that last shot isn't sharper cuz I like it allot.

the image quality just looks kind of poor in all of these pics for some reason. maybe it's just the harsh light.

All great captures though.

yeah i think its the light, and the lens goes a lil soft at 300mm.


+ it was more of a see the bird flying out of the corner of my eye, whip the camera up and snap quick before it flew by for #2 and 3.
