Many years ago, (maybe 12-14 years) I had this coffee table book by a female photographer who was rather specific in her subjects, no other way to say this, she photographed rather unattractive, normal people in everyday scenes.
Unattractive is stretching it, butt ugly is more like it. Yet it was incredibly provocative and grounding, the images were haunting and attractive in their own special way. All B&W and I have no idea what her name was, I do remember that one image was double printed, but upside down, more of a printing error, I think.
Any clues?
