I don't know how many of you know about this link, but i just found it while browsing other photography sites... it's amazing!
You can get brand new digital compact cameras or DSLR's for really cheap!
Like, the Nikon D50 with 18-55mm lens, for as low as $525 US!!
That's just 1 example. There are 20 pages full of amazing deals for all sorts of amazing cameras.

Just thought i'd let you guys know, who don't already know :)

Oh, and here's the link.

Perhaps one of the Admins here could sticky this thread? Because that link could really come in handy for people (like me) whos looking for good DSLRs (or regular point-and-shoot compacts) for 'little' money.

Always read reviews about dealer sites before you buy. Sometimes, when it's too good to be true...........it is. Check their rep. BEFORE you buy....

2 pennies FWIW

Sites like that, that gather a bunch of prices...are a big reason why there are so many sketchy dealers out there.

All a company has to do, is post a low price and they get all sorts of advertising and hits to their web site. Then when you call them, they tell you that's the price for the body only...and that every little accessories (usually included) is extra...then they give you the hard sell on batteries, cards etc.

Then when they get your credit card number...they say that they are back ordered and your camera won't be shipped yet....it may take months to get it.

I'm not saying that pricescan is shady...but I'd bet that most of the super low price links they have...are shady.

Check the links at the bottom of the page...if you find something cheaper than B&H or Adorama...buyer beware.

I'll tell you exactly what that place is, atleast for Canon. The 20D is going for the same price Canon employee discount gets it for. There is no way that is legit. The discount is lower then cost and less you work for Canon you cannot get it at that price. I was going to get the 20D from my Canon discount and that is the SAME price. Canon employee discount is 50% off list. So it comes out to be a little bit less then what it costs them to make the camera. That is not a legit site.

Yep best to really do some good research,if you have the funds to get a camera take your time and enjoy finding what one you really like.

Have you been into any stores and tried any out recently? What ones are you considering at the moment?

/\ well i was considering the Sony CyberShot DSC-H1... they usually sell it (in Canada) for around $650... but on Wisetronics they're selling it for $334 US ($406 CA)... i was actually planning on getting it from there, but now im not sure...

Is there a store any of you know about where i can get this camera for less than $650 CA, and where the reviews/ratings for customer service and whatnot are a lot higher/better?

Thanks :)

/\ i just checked out the review for B&H Photo/Video/Audio store.. and it has by far the best ratings. The lowest was a 6.99, which was on the product' prices. But the customer service/shipping/return/placement/likelihood of future purchases/etc. are all between 8.43 and 9.01. And they're selling the Sony H1 for $399 US... so would you guys say that place is safe? :)

B&H are top notch. Just spent about 1400$ there a couple of months ago. Very helpful on the phone. As someone said, if somebody is advertising a price lower than B&H they're probably gonna scam you somehow.

Buyer beware.

I'm in the UK and have visited the B&H store in Manhattan. I found the staff to be very helpful. Not particualrly chatty but understandable given how busy the place always is. Always busy is a good clue to reputation straight away. I've also placed orders online and phoned to wire money to their account for my current equipment.

I'd recommend B&H all day long and would be more than happy to buy from them again.....in fact when I eventually decide to bite the bullet and get a 1Ds MK II, guess who's getting my cash?!?!?

Another site to be used with extreme caution is www.expresscameras.com
Compare these to ratings
