I'm not ready for an DSLR yet because I don't think I should buy one yet. I want to buy one of these to get my feet in the water. I'm not sure which one though...

Which one? Any suggestions?

Olympus just came out with an 8 MP and 18X zoom and wide angle camera.........less than $400.

I've seen it and pictures that have been taken with it. Beautiful for someone who really doesn't want an SLR......

Fuji has also come out with one similar to this.

I'm sure other companies have, as well, but these are just two that I know about first hand.

Here's a link to the Olympus one.....

I'll have to take a look at it thanks :D

Me, I would buy the Powershot S3 IS as the most bang for the bucks...

They are a nice little camera. I like the S5 even better, but I am not convinced it is worth the extra money

Thats the same one I considered the most Sabbath..

i had the s5, and it was great!
I sold it to buy a 400d but it was great....
you can see a couple of pics on my flikr....

The image quality looks excellent! That might be the camera I buy!

Thats what I want to do. However I'm not sure if my budget will fit that at the time... I'll take a look though!

Now I am just a noob so you can take my advice or leave it. I bought the fujifilm finepix s700. I posted a full review in the review section of these forums. I have been having lots of fun with the camera. I know a little bit but still learning lots.

I was in the same boat as you were. Wanting something that I could point shoot if needed with great picture quality. Or able to use a full manual mode for setting everything myself. Here are some pics that I took in all different modes and how they turned out.

for a slr like I would get the Panasonic FZ-50 but like most suggest if you could I would see if I could save up for a good Dslr and lenses you can get a Olympus 510 kit with 2 lenses for around 850 and it has a lot of good options.
anyways here are a few from the FZ-50

Those photos of yours from the s700 are some fine work. Please keep in mind like I said all my shots from the FZ-50 were Raw and have some post processing and a little bit of practice with that camera.(about 25,000 pics) So they don't look quite that good straight out of the camera. ;)

Well thanks for compliments on my photo's. The photo's I have up are untouched except for resizing. So Probley with a little work I could get close to the images you posted. I have only took bout 300 pictures so far with my s700 so you are a little ahead of me lol. That also makes me feel a little better that my camera is is not the best but not junk either lol....

Peace out from the noob......lol
