LR question

Does LR run on top of Photoshop as an add on program or as a separate program all together? I've got the Windows version of PS and I just purchased a Mac. I'm debating on whether to purchase LR for Windows (if it runs on top of PS and I'll use Parallels) or the Mac version if it runs alone. Thanks for your help!

It's stand-alone, but works parallel with PS. so when you do your basic color correction in LR, you export, PS automatically opens and you make your fine adjustments.

Keep in mind, Adobe offers a cross-grade from Windows to Mac and the other way (can't figure out why you'd go the other way... but what the heck). All kidding aside, they do offer cross grades and you can save some money going that route!
