This one is for the electronics nerds like me. I made my own pc cord system, so I can detach the center section and make it as long as I need to. My new project, should I choose to accept it, would be to make something to bring my 8.5V Vivitar 285hv signal down to 6v. Anyone know how?

Not too hard. I think it would be easiest to just buy small solder-less breadboard and a cermet pot/trimmer. I think RadioShack sells 15-turn cermet pots. Just run your line through the pot and use a voltmeter to check the voltage on the other side while you adjust the pot. It should step down just fine. My only concern would be amps. Flashes aren't super high in voltage, but there's a lot of amps in those capacitors. So make sure you find a pot that can handle that much energy.
