I'm looking for a tripod and I came across this one, is it a good one to start with? Thanks!
Depends on what you want it for. For a P&S or bridge camera, it will do fine. For an SLR/DSLR, it's a bit light. Try looking to the 190 or 055 legs, especially if you may be hanging some longer glass off of your camera.
The maximum weight I plan to hang on it will be approx. 1,2kg/2,5lbs.
Go to a camera store and try it for yourself. I saw one 'in the flesh' and it looks cheap and flimsy. Even Manfrotto (from your link) only recommends this tripod for P&S or bridge cameras but not SLRs. I'll second tirediron's recommendation: the 190 and 055 are much sturdier and better built
I removed the 718B from my list and while searching for something else I came accros this tripod: Hama Omega Carbon III. Where I'd buy it, it's on a special price now and it's only €159. Any thoughts?
