    I actually got to watch this guy stalk, catch and eat his prey. Very cool to see from start to finish. The selective focus may not appeal to everyone in #2, but I can live with that :)

    eidt: I'll throw this out now since people always ask. Shot with a Canon 30D handheld, Sigma 150mm macro, 1.4X TC, Promaster flash with Lumiquest softbox mounted on Manfrotto macro flash bracket.

    that is one great cool series!

    focus could be improved on some ... but overall it could go in a book on those creatures :)

    Great pictures, makes me feel icky just watching them. Those some nasty claws and jaw on the mantis.

    What a fascinating series. Mantis' are such a freaky looking creature to begin with (tiny head on an elongated body), and then to see these closeups of it devouring its prey...very cool in a nature-is-cruel kinda way.
