Cost aside, the reasons to get the Mark III are the 10 fps speed, more complex AF, built-in cleaning technology, etc. The reasons to get the 5D are the larger sensor and better wide angle shots.

If you're not a sports photographer and don't need the speed, is there any reason based on image quality to get the Mark III over the 5D?

I guess you could wait until EOS 1 series comes out with a full sized sensor to get the best of both worlds...for a lot of money?

The Mk III is a pro level body, the 5D is not. That's a big difference, if you need it.

What about the 1Ds mk II? It's a 1 series body with a full frame sensor (16.6 MP). Most people expect Canon to come up with a 1Ds mk III, sometime soon. It would have a full frame sensor and most of the upgrades that the new 1D mk III has.
