Also looking for a lens from approx 50-125mm for Canon near L quality under $600. Ive looked a Sigma and nothing stood out, any recommendations? It would be used for portaits about 60% of the time.

Consider the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 or EF 100mm f/2.8 lenses. There's no way you'll find any L lens for under 600 (the closest being the f/4, non-IS variant of the 70-200mm), unless you ravaged eBay or craigs list. And even then, quality could be questionable. A high quality zoom lens (at any range) is going to be expensive. At that budget, I think either of these would suit your needs.
