do you think the focus takes away from the shot or dose the shot work like it is?

Personally, I think it takes away a lot. The angle and composition of the shot is actually really nice, but that shadow ruins it for me.

I love it, and the shadow doesn't bother me. Being out of focus, especially around the eye is distracting and ruins an otherwise very nice looking photo for me.

i agree, the color tone and texture of the skin and even the angle are quite nice, but the lack of focus ruins it

I concur. A picture like this should be clearly in focus. I like the picture though. The first thing that came to mind was the author pictures you see inside or on the back covers of books.
