Megapixel question (and D40 vs. D40x)

Ah, I see. Well, I may need to re-think that idea, but I had seen some photos on Flickr taken with a Sigma 30mm HSM lens and made a mental note to look into it - 30mm x 1.5 gives almost the field of view that I've been used to with the 50mm Nikkor on the old FM, so that could be an alternative.

Thanks again everyone.

Get a D80. It'll change your world. The food will taster better, and the women. . .oh the women.

Sorry yeah I meant autofocus Motor. Actually that entire post was a load of crap. Penta-Prism is the thing in the top of the view finder. So let me refrase.

D40s lack an autofocus motor. That means manual focus for many of Nikon's lenses. Now what I wanted to say was the focus screen in the D40 and indeed in every modern DSLR does not have a split-prism or micro-prism in the centre of the screen for manual focus. This means to manually focus you need to rely on your eyesight and an already inadequate viewfinder.

Think I got it out correctly this time.
