After using Metz 58 for a while I collected my thoughts, pros and cons in this review: Metz 58

I really like little things about this flash: low battery indicator, beep function, etc. It's loaded with all the professional grade features, too, of course

Did some testing of the wink light, extended zoom, catchlight card and general bouncing: Metz 58 test

I have to agree with many others that the secondary reflector produces a rather harsh light. It allows, however, creating fill light while bouncing off of the side walls:

The extended zoom doesn't do much good for me...

Still.... it's kind of interesting to see side-by-side compassion to know what those features do (or not) give you. I posted 15 images for comparison.

Posted another Metz 58 test: Mecablitz 58 AF-1 frame coverage test
Tested frame coverage at all zoom levels and white card frame coverage.

There are some serious artifacts showing at high zoom levels.
