The following should cover pretty much every manual focus Minolta SLR...

I've used the SRT 101, good camera with fully mechanical shutter which is useful if like me you always forget spare batteries. However a friend had an XD-7 and an XE-7, and they were beautiful cameras. I'd prefer the SRT, XD and XE series over the later ones but that's more from a collector's point of view than a user's (i.e. they look nicer). But as you probably know, any of the manual focus Minoltas will do the job and do it well. I still believe that Minolta (or Konica-Minolta) dropping out of the market was a huge loss and not only for their customers.

I have the xd1 & the xd7 and bag full of lenses. I bought them shot them once and put the away. I'm about to resurect them and begin to shoot the system at least some. I had to but the system from scratch since I had sold off all my pentax equipment about five years ago when I sold out the old studio.

I chose minolta because it was a good slr system without too much electronics in it. The batter shutter is a bit of a worry but I bought ten batteries on ebay and just keep them in the bag. I chose Minolta because all the lenses from the D up until the Maxima at interchangeable on any body. They will not work on the Maxima I am told but everything else you are good to go with.

So far I have been impressed and the Minolta camera and lenses appear to have been under rated all these years. At least thats my new opinion of them.

I'd look on ebay for a clean, used X370 or X700. No one wants film cameras these days, and they are selling for cheap. I've got a couple of nice old EOS 35 mm bodies (a 620 and 850) listed, and hardly anyone is looking, much less bidding.

Hey Myopia -

You're going to love the srt with your MC/MD lenses. I have several srt's (mostly 102's and 202's) and use MC and MD lenses interchangebly (and Rokkor/Minolta exclusively). The color rendition of *good* Minolta glass is astounding (and certainly not spendy though there are always exceptions).

Enjoy!
