Misusing A Tripod Well.

I tried one of those before, the legs fell apart under the weight of my camera within 20 minutes. I guess you could shoulder rest it a lot, but freestanding good luck.

Yeah, it won't hold up something like this http://www.nikonians.org/html/resou...her/close-up_macro/macro_images/F5_PB6_55.jpg fully extended or anything like that. To the 4th stage it would tho. And even collapsed to one stage it probably wouldn't be suitable for something like this: http://akiroom.com/redbook/kenkyukai05b/200508-15.jpg :D

I used to put an F5 with a Nikkor AF 24-120 mm on with no problems tho. And the F5 was actually a tank - treads and all. ;) My D2x too - which was my most recent "real" camera (sold about 4 months ago or so) tho I never tried with any heavy glass.

If anyone buys this pod and has a heavy camera+lens I definitely don't recommend using the pod fully extended. It will handle 6 or 7 pounds MAX fully extended. Mine has 8-stage telescoping legs and unfolds to 100+ cm (leg length) not including the head height. The first 4 stages are very strong and will support just about any camera rig unless it's one of those huge telescopic lenses with the 12"ø front elements. It probably would at 2 stages but I wouldn't want to try it if I had a lens like that. Trust $8,000 worth of camera and lens at 30 lbs. to a $19 pod? Hehehehe... That said fully collapsed, I believe I could stand on it no problem and I'm 6' 180 lbs.

It could also be that the link I think I found (posted several messages up) is actually a different pod.

EDIT: I think it's the same tho. That says it extends to 40" which is 101.6 cm. With the head, that's about right. Here's the link again:

This is a great idea,gonna try it,thanks !

When I opened this, I was expecting to read about someone who fought off a would-be robber with their tripod

I saw the jpg names and though some one was using a tripod for a rifle mount. I'd try this but my arms aren't long enough to use with my tripod.
