Is there a way to check/calibrate the brightness on my monitor??

I use a laptop for all my photo work, and the odd time I look at my pics on a regular screen I wonder if I have my pics too dark from the laptop.

    Cheers

You can use a program like Adobe Gamma...but the best way is with a hardware device like the Colorvision Spyder.

I also suggest a hardware unit for best results, but here's a quick and dirty page to do it manually. Choose your gamma target at the bottom of the page.
