Just after first quater a couple of weeks ago

Taken with canon 400d and a telescope. Just bought a new 2x barlow so should hopefully be able to get incloser and have a similar quality in the future.

ps. Couldn't find image size limits in the FAQ, could someone tell me what they are? This image may be a little big, if so I'll delete it

We suggest 800px for the longest side of a photo, but with a vertical frame the 1024px might work all right, too!

And this is my own DREAM photo of the moon. Being restricted to just a normal (cheap) Sigma 70-300mm lens, getting this close is so totally out of the question for me, but here you are, planning to get even closer. My envy will grow

wow thats one incredible shot of the moon taken from mother earth. it really looks like one of the photos taken by one of the space probes or Apollo spacecraft.

It is great shot with such detail. Please tell us the lens (telescope) you use. I assume it is 800mm a minimum?

Btw, is the moon always facing us with the same face?

Close enough, yes. It's called "tidal locking."

That's great...I've always wanted to learn how to do this. Unfortunately I haven't gotten a telescope yet. Always other things to get first...namely photographic equipment!
