Younggfinch1600.jpg

Young goldfinch managing to beat off the adults . . .B. teenagers! Un touched full frame at iso 1600 on the 40D
Look forward to a brighter day and using iso 200

Congrats on the new camera!!! These shots have lots of detail in the feathers, and all their subtle shadings of colour. I look forward to seeing more shots, as I'm sure you'll be taking lots!

Nice shots. The chaffinch looks a fraction soft to my eyes though. Looking closely at the screen, there seems to be a slight fringing around each of the birds - what sort of PP did you do?

Converted via Adobe DNG from RAW as CS2 hasn't the plugin for the 40D yet. Adjusted curves (usually try Auto) first and either Neatimage of fot the Great tit a quick wipe round background with blur brush. On my way out so very quick for posting. Now found I can get iso 3200 so watch out for black cats in coal cellars!
